The Vitranc Cup has a tradition of more than 60 years and is one of the most important sporting events in Slovenia. The first competition was organised in 1961 and since 1968 it has been part of the World Cup. The competition takes its name from the nearby Vitranc peak, which rises above the ski slope in Podkoren, where the races are held. The Podkoren piste is one of the most challenging and highly regarded in the World Cup, especially the giant slalom. The event attracts thousands of spectators every year, both local and foreign.
In the 2025/26 season, the Vitranc Cup will celebrate its 65th edition. For two days, the best skiers will compete on the slopes of Podkoren and fight for the top places. In the 2025/26 ski season, the competition will take place on the Podkoren slope between 7 and 8 March 2026.
