A musical concert of the Jesenice – Kranjska Gora Wind Orchestra as part of the Summer under Vitranc events will take place on Saturday, 17 August from 8:30 pm onwards on the square in front of the church in Kranjska Gora.
ABOUT JESENICE – KRANJSKA GORA WIND ORCHESTRA:
The Jesenice – Kranjska Gora Wind Orchestra currently has 57 members, ranging in age from 12 to 78.
Rehearsals are held twice a week and performances are not few. Dozens of hours must be spent following the score, the conductor’s hand and acute ear, strictly obeying the laws of music, bar and rhythm, so that the harmonies dictated by the composer and arranger, and expected by the conductor at New Year’s, spring and autumn concerts and other performances, can ring out.
For the last five years the orchestra has been led by a new conductor, the young Styrian music expert and reliable Dejan Rihtarič. The cooperation with the artists Monika Bohinec and tenor Klemen Torkar, the champion of the Vienna Opera, choir KD Vox Carniola in the challenging project Ljudska zGodba was very well-known.
In 2019, the orchestra was recognised as a building block of intangible heritage and entered in the register as a preserver of brass band culture with traditional wake-up calls and other performances that have been passed down from generation to generation for a century and a half.
