We begin our hike in front of the Kranjska Gora Tourist Information Centre. The trail leads us left toward Hotel Lipa. At the first intersection, just before the hotel, we turn right. The path brings us to the bus station and continues along the left side of the apartment building behind it, we go on toward the main Jesenice – Rateče road. We cross the main road and the Sava Dolinka River, then turn left. We follow the path alongside the Sava Dolinka River before the trail turns uphill into the forest. At the next two forest trail junctions, we always keep left. After a gentle descent out of the woods, we continue straight ahead (a left turn would take us to the main road). Soon, the trail brings us to the first houses in Podkoren. Here, we walk about 200 metres on asphalt before turning onto a path that runs parallel to the road leading to the Korensko sedlo mountain pass. A left turn through an underpass brings us just a few hundred metres from the heart of the village, with its exceptionally charming old centre. In Podkoren, we can visit the renowned World Cup alpine ski course and see the memorial plaque dedicated to the famous naturalist and inventor Sir Humphry Davy.
