Kranjska Gora hosted a delegation from the High Tatras

In recent days, we hosted a nine-member delegation of representatives from the High Tatras region from Slovakia in Kranjska Gora. The purpose of their visit was to get to know our region and exchange experiences in the field of tourism destination management.

As the High Tatras and the Julian Alps are very similar in terms of character, offer, and scope of tourism, the visit was an excellent opportunity for an in-depth discussion of common challenges and goals. Both destinations have a comparable number of overnight stays, face similar issues regarding destination development, seasonality, and dispersion of tourist flows, and strive for balanced tourism development for the benefit of the local environment and community.

We welcomed the delegation at the Kranjska Gora Municipality, where we presented the destination of Kranjska Gora, the operations of Tourist Board Kranjska Gora, the vision for the development of the destination, the financing structure, and key projects. We concluded the meeting in a relaxed atmosphere with socializing and light refreshments.

Our Slovak colleagues also spent some time exploring the natural beauty of Kranjska Gora. They visited the Vršič Pass, the Planica Nordic Center, Zelenci, and Lake Jasna, where they were impressed by the exceptional nature and tourist infrastructure.

The visit was an excellent opportunity to exchange good practices, which will undoubtedly contribute to the further development of both Alpine destinations in the future.
