On the 130th anniversary of the construction of the Aljaž Tower, we are pleased to invite you to the opening of the exhibition “The Tower is Watching Us,” which will take place on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 4 p.m. at the Slovenian Alpine Museum in Mojstrana.
The exhibition “Aljaž Tower – Symbol or Trophy” explores the historical, cultural, and symbolic significance of Aljaž Tower and its transformation over time – from Jakob Aljaž’s gesture of national defense to a contemporary symbol of national identity. It offers insight into the diverse ways in which individuals and communities have experienced Triglav and its tower over the decades – as a destination, a venue, a symbol of resistance, a stage for personal and collective stories. Through rich material, object stories, and numerous anecdotes, it encourages visitors to reflect: do we still experience Aljaž Tower as a symbol of community – or as a personal trophy?
On this anniversary, the Slovenian Alpine Museum is opening an experiential exhibition that is sure to impress you with its sounds, mists, and stories.
The event is free of charge, but due to limited space, we kindly ask you to register in advance at info@planinskimuzej.si.
