ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE:
C. Perrault, B. Gašperčič / puppet show SLEEPING BEAUTY
The story of Sleeping Beauty is told by a cook’s apprentice while he is doing various cooking tasks. When little Zarja is born, the king and queen invite twelve fairies to the celebration. The thirteenth fairy was not invited to the party and became angry, predicting that Zarja would prick her finger on a spinning wheel on her fifteenth birthday and die. Fortunately, the other fairies soften the spell: Zarja will not die, but will sleep for a hundred years – along with the entire castle. A thick, impenetrable thorn bush will grow around the castle. Thus, the girl Zarja was given the name Sleeping Beauty, and the little cook only relaxes when everyone in the castle falls peacefully asleep.
