Ratek written curiosity!
The medieval Rateče or Klagenfurt manuscript is the second oldest monument of Slovene literature after the Brižine monuments.
It was written around 1380. It was probably written by a German priest. It is now housed in the Klagenfurt Regional Museum. It consists of three prayers: the Father, the Apostolic Faith and Hail Mary. The first two are transcripts of much older proposals dating back to the beginning of the 9th century, so that their age is not less than the texts in the Brežice monuments. The prayer to Mary is younger, as it was written in Latin only after 1000. The language of the manuscript is Gorenjska with traces of the Carinthian and Dolenjska dialects, which is explained by the fact that immigrants from other Slovene lands also lived in Rateče.
Viewing a copy of the manuscript, which includes three prayers, is mandatory for all who are interested in the development of the Slovenian language! Modernized record:
