On Saturday, 27 May, the penultimate stage of this year’s Giro d’Italia will also take a detour into the immediate vicinity of Slovenia and Kranjska Gora. From Tarvisio, the 18.6 km mountain chronometer will take place along the narrow road to Monte Lussari.
As there is very little space along the road to Monte Lussari, the race organisers have decided to allow only a limited number of fans to access the top of Monte Lussari by gondola.
For gondola ticket holders only, 1,000 parking spaces for cars or motorbikes will be arranged in the vicinity of the gondola. For all-day parking there will be an additional charge of € 3.
Special buses will also run from the more distant car parks to Tarvisio. Organised by the Municipality of Tarvisio, a free bus will also run from Planica to the Tarvisio football ground on Saturday.
At the car park in Planica you will find the bus that will take you to Via Gorizia. From Via Gorizia you can either walk to the race or take another bus to the cable car.
Other useful information:
you will be able to park your car in Planica, from where a free shuttle service will be available to Tarvisio every 20 minutes (to the football stadium – from there on you can only walk to the start, it is about 3km walk)
the road will be closed for cars already before the football stadium, except for those who have already bought parking cards in Trbiz
the first bus will be in Planica at 8:00 and the last bus will leave Trbiz at 23:00
for those of you who are walking to Monte Lussari or have a gondola ticket, there will also be a free shuttle service from the football stadium in Tarvisio to the gondola.
bicycles will also be allowed on the way to Tarvisio or to the gondola
the centre of Tarvisio will be closed to all traffic and you will only be able to get around on foot
the race will start at 11:30
There is also a mobile app where fans can find all the information they need from the route to the results, including details of the teams and riders at the start, with just one click via a single digital platform. The app also contains all relevant information about the venue and parking.
