After 2022, when Restaurant Milka was among the winners of the prestigious Michelin Culinary Award for the first time, it seems that the sky is the limit for restaurants in Kranjska Gora. Since then, various restaurants have won numerous awards and been included in prestigious lists of the best restaurants in Slovenia and Europe, and Restaurant Milka has successfully won and retained its second Michelin star.
The most prestigious gastronomic guide has again selected the best gourmet cuisine in Slovenia. We are extremely proud that the Milka Restaurant has retained two Michelin stars even after the new evaluation.
As they wrote in the explanation, “In the past year they have shown incredible progress with their modern, ‘mountain’ cuisine, and it impresses with an “exciting gourmet synthesis of the Alpine landscape and the Nordic regions”.
Gault & Millau, considered one of the three most influential international guides in the world of gastronomy and recognised for its chef’s caps, has also awarded restaurants in Kranjska Gora with chef’s caps:
- Restaurant Milka: 4 caps
- Pino Alpino: 2 caps
- Restaurant Lipa: 2 caps
Restaurant Milka, with its four caps, was ranked among the top 10 Slovenian restaurants, placing it alongside the prestigious Hiša Franko, JB Restaurant, Hiša Denk and other top Slovenian restaurants.
The Gault & Millau Chef of the Year 2024 is David Žefran from Milka restaurant in Kranjska Gora.
We are glad that another restaurant in the destination of Kranjska Gora has been included in the company of gourmet superpowers, namely the Triangel Restaurant, located in the Triangel Boutiqe hotel in Gozd Martuljek, was awarded the Bib Gourmand, where the ratio between price and quality is evaluated, or as have written a high-quality authentic experience at affordable prices.
An even larger and more varied selection of restaurants has been evaluated by the renowned Austrian gastronomic magazine Falstaff, which recently published a fresh selection of Slovenian restaurants that they consider to be the best of the year. This year, the Falstaff fork was also awarded to 4 restaurants in Kranjska Gora. Restaurant Milka was ranked in the TOP 3 Slovenian restaurants, with only Hiša Franko ahead of it. In addition to Pino Alpino and Restaurant Lipa, Restaurant Triangel from Gozd Martuljek, run by Chef Jon Zupan, was also among the best restaurants.
Chef Jon Zupan was chef Uroš Štefelin’s right-hand man and his sous chef for many years.
