Notice of closures on the Vršič Pass

The reconstruction of the regional road, drainage and parking areas at the top of the Vršič Pass started in September.

For traffic management purposes during the construction works, partial closures and full closures are foreseen on the sections of the national road to Vršič.

During the partial closures, traffic passing the treatment area will be alternately one-way with traffic lights. During the full closure, traffic will be diverted by traffic signals to a diversion via Italy via the Predel border crossing.

For up-to-date information, visit PROMET.SI.

From the direction of Kranjska Gora, access to Erjavec hut will be available throughout the construction works. From the direction of Trenta, access will be provided to the Tičar’s Hut, if site conditions permit.

During construction, areas currently used for unregulated parking will be closed and parking within the construction area will be prevented. This will reduce the number of unauthorised persons in the vicinity of the construction site. Parking will be allowed in areas lower down the road on both sides of the pass.

The closures are planned to be in place in the area of the top of the Vršič Pass (for the time being) between 2 September 2024 and 24 December 2024. Weather conditions permitting, construction work will continue until the end of the year. Otherwise, the works will be temporarily suspended (due to winter conditions). In any case, construction work is expected to continue next year (date to be announced).

Partial closures will be in place at all times during the period described.
Full closures will be in place after 16 September 2024 and will only be in place from 07:30 to 17:00 Monday to Friday. No full closures are foreseen for the weekend. The exact daily timetable is likely to vary depending on weather conditions due to winter conditions on the pass.

Please be patient and understanding during the construction works.
