The expert committees of the My Country – Sign of Hospitality competition have once again taken to the field. The traditional summer assessment of places, historical centers, excursion points, campsites, glamping sites, and themed trails throughout Slovenia has begun.
In search of authentic Slovenian hospitality, the members of the expert committees will visit the registered destinations by the end of August and check how friendly and open the local communities are to their visitors. The My Country – Sign of Hospitality competition promotes tidiness, friendliness, and high-quality tourist offerings throughout Slovenia, while also raising awareness of the importance of hospitality as a key value of Slovenian tourism.
The evaluation committees visited the municipality of Kranjska Gora in July and August. They visited Brunarica pri Ingotu on the Jasenje alpine pasture, strolled through Kranjska Gora, where they learned about new developments in the destination, met with the managers at the Špik campsite, and toured the campsite, which has already been recognized by Green Key as one of the most sustainable campsites in Slovenia. In August, the commission stopped at Dovje, which is a candidate for the most well-kept village center, and finally took a walk along the forest educational trail, guided by Lili Smiljić, head of the Mountain Nature Protection Section of the Gozd Martuljek Mountaineering Association.
We are pleased to announce that the commission for the Best Themed Trails has successfully completed its work, and that our trail has been nominated for the gold, silver, or bronze Hospitality Award. Sincere congratulations to everyone who contributed to this honorable nomination with their effort, knowledge, and dedication!
