Kranjska Gora

Red Bull Goni Pony

Climb the highest Slovenian pass or travel to the past?

You can’t miss the #retro festival of epic proportions! You don’t have a bike? Browse your own, father’s and neighbor’s garage! You don’t have retro clothes? Browse mom, grandma and mother-in-law’s closet!

June 3 is reserved for the retro holiday.

On the first Saturday in June, the Vršič hill will once again be retro-themed. From Kranjska Gora, a crowd of joyful cyclists will set off to the highest Slovenian pass to ride the devil to the top of Vršič on the Pony Mountains. Are you ready for the ninght Red Bull Goni Pony?

On 3 June, Kranjska Gora is once again hosting a retro festival. For the ninght time, Pony bike enthusiasts will tackle the serpentine roads of Vršič. The current record for the 13.5 km long course is 39 minutes and 39 seconds. Will we be treated to a new one this year?

What should a Pony Bike look like?
You can take part in the Red Bull Go Pony event… with a Pony! The iconic model, which was in production between 1965 and 1985, as well as the new Pony Classic models without gears. 20 inch wheels, no carbon add-ons and a crankset length of no more than 180 mm. These are just some of the criteria that the bike has to tick off.
Only 20 inch wheels are allowed.
No gears, no drive motors.
The bike must have at least a working rear brake.
No carbon additives.
No changes to the size of the gears on the bike and therefore the drive ratio of the bike.
The maximum crank length is 180 mm.

Retro is imperial

The legendary Pony comes with a retro outfit! What does it look like? Those spiders you found in your mother-in-law’s wardrobe? Great! A T-shirt that hasn’t been available in a shop for 40 years? Great! Do the pieces have to fit together to make a nice whole? There’s no other way, because we’re choosing the best retro outfit again this year!

Between 14.30 and 18.00, the road between Kranjska Gora and the Vršič Pass is completely closed to all vehicles. All fans must go to the summit or to the parking lots along the road before the closure.
