READ THE MOUNTAINS FESTIVAL IN THE LIBRARIES OF THE UPPER SAVA VALLEY
Celebrating Alpine cultural heritage as part of the International Mountain Day – 11 December. The festival was conceived to mark the International Mountain Day and to promote events dedicated to mountains and literature. Literature presentations and discussions on contemporary Alpine mountain literature will take place in the libraries of the Upper Sava Valley. This initiative is to mark World Mountain Day.
On Friday, 8 December 2023, at 18.00, Dušan Škodič, a tireless researcher of Slovenian mountaineering history, will present his new work, a book entitled Triglav is Ours, as part of the International Mountain Day and the Alpine Convention’s project, the Read the Mountains Festival. The book sheds light on the beginnings of organised mountaineering and mountaineering in Slovenia.
The unexpected discovery of the lost archives in Innsbruck in 2021 has made it possible to fill the cracks in time and shed new light on the history of our mountaineering and mountaineering. The author is well known to lovers of mountaineering literature, as four of his works have been published so far (People in the Mountains, Laughter from the Mountains, The Watershed Border). In cooperation with the Gozd Martuljek Mountaineering Association.
