You are invited to the opening of the guest exhibition of the Gorenjska Museum entitled Trained for Mountain Warfare: 1st Mountain Infantry Regiment of the Army of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. The event will take place on Friday, 27 October at 6 pm in the Slovenian Alpine Museum.
The 1st Mountain Infantry Regiment of the Army of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia was a specialised mountain unit. They mastered all the principles of mountain warfare tactics: mountaineering, skiing and mountain rescue. They also regularly carried out their training in Bohinj. The military team even took part in international cross-country skiing competitions. In 1937, Bohinj’s Joža Podlipnik also travelled to the World Championships in Chamonix. This exhibition reveals the history of this almost forgotten regiment and the events that took place in the wider Mojstrana area at that time.
The exhibition will be opened to the musical accompaniment of cellist Milan Hudnik.
You are cordially invited!
