ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE:
The director of the show, Gojmir Lešnjak Gojc, has adapted an English black comedy on the Sukari stage. “The pharmaceutical industry is ready to conquer this world for its own profit! So far, 100 times more money has been invested in anti-dementia drugs than in dementia treatments! But in our game we have come up with the ideal solution with the help of TV ads! What is it? To give all old people who live beyond their own and society’s economic means a dignified death! So all you too old, enjoy RIANOL!”
The comedy was written by Tamsin Oglesby and translated by Srečko Fišer. The play is about the contempt for ageing from modern consumer society to its social fringes, to special hospitals and old people’s homes. It is set in a fictional future where the “elderly” are promised the possibility of a decent quality of life before death with new medicines.
