We invite you to a lecture with the presentation of Iztok Tomazin’s book entitled On the border: smuggling and other border stories from Karavanke to the Himalayas, which will take place on Friday, April 14 at 5:30 p.m. in the Gozd Martuljek Library.
Iztok Tomazin, mountaineer, mountain rescuer, doctor and, in the present book, chronicler of his own and some foreign illegal border crossings. “Gorniška knjiga” is a collection of smuggling and other frontier stories from Karavanke to the Himalayas, written in an autobiographical style and also taking place in foreign mountains, most of them connected with Karavanke.
“It is about rich and current memories of smuggling and other memories connected with the protected international borders, which have been worded and equipped with authentic photographic material. On a personal level, it was mainly about the exciting interweaving of the mountain adventure of a young alpinist, about defiance of legal and other restrictions and the state’s repressive apparatus, about breaking imposed international borders and dangerous but fulfilling research and overcoming personal boundaries and limitations,” writes the author upon the publication of the book .
