From Kranjska Gora to Vitranc

Conquer the summit of Kranjska Gora with one of the most beautiful views in the Julian Alps.

The hike begins in front of the Kranjska Gora Tourist Information Centre. At the Hotel Kotnik, we turn right and continue to the Ljudski dom Kranjska Gora, then left and toward Korona, Resort & Entertainment. At the end of the street, we turn right and pass Hotel Kranjska Gora. From the hotel, we follow the road toward the Vršič Pass for 150 metres, then turn right onto a mountain trail that climbs above Lake Jasna. Soon, the trail branches off to the right and begins to ascend above the Mala Pišnica valley. After a while, it branches off to the right again and leads us along the forested slopes above the chairlifts to the upper station of the Vitranc 1 four-seater chairlift, where we can rest at the Bedančev dom hut. Here, we join Trail No. 13 and continue uphill via a cart track through the forest and ski slopes to the upper station of the Podkoren four-seater chairlift. From there, we follow a steep trail through the forest beneath the old Vitranc 2 chairlift.

Trail No. 20a is a shortcut that branches off from Trail No. 20 above the chairlifts and climbs steeply left up to the Vratnik ridge, leading us to Vitranc, where we can take a break at the Mojčin dom hut. The shortcut is steep but scenic, and shortens the ascent by about 30 minutes.
