The hut is located among larches on a small hill beneath the Vršič mountain pass in the heart of Triglav National Park.
A central heating and a ceramic masonry furnace in the dining room ensure pleasant accommodation. Electricity, comfortable toilets, and showers in the bathroom, all renovated in 2023, are provided throughout the year, enabling mountaineers, groups and all other travellers to have a pleasant stay. The hut is also a perfect point about the winter snow conditions. Erjavčeva koča is also the only mountain hut at Vršič Pass open the whole year.
A unique attraction, the rocky face of “Ajdovska deklica” (Giants maiden or Heathen Maiden) in Prisank’s north wall, is best seen from where the hut stands.
